I had front wheel bearing work done in August 2009. That is 8 months ago. .by a Midas Auto Service Center. They have been diagnosed today by a Ford Dealership as being worn and extremely loose after I noticed a noise coming from the front end. They were so loose, the mechanic did not advise me to drive the vehicle on the interstate.
An 8 month old repair should not go bad like this
The only consolation is that the Midas manager offered to reimburse me the parts which came to $85.
They should do the job over at no cost to you. Midas is a franchise operation and each franchise has a lot of latitude in the way they treat their customers but, they still have to answer to the franchisor on issues such as this.
I agree and wish they would have complied with my request to do that job over again. But they have covered themselves by only offering 90 days / 12,000 miles warranty on this particular repair job. Maybe I should email the corporate headquarters of my situation and get some better satisfaction.
Thank you for taking the time to contact our office regarding your experience with the Midas program.
Unless otherwise specified in writing, all Midas repairs carry a 90 day warranty. This is the generally accepted practice within the automotive industry.
Some specific repairs and products such as mufflers, brake pads and shoes, shocks and struts carry an exclusive Midas lifetime warranty. All products that carry a lifetime warranty from Midas are covered for as long as the original purchaser of the product owns the vehicle on which it was installed.
If you have further questions or concerns, please contact our office Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm CST at 800-621-8380.
At this time you might just be better off to take the parts cost from the store manager and go buy the parts from Auto Zone or Advance A.P. at least with them you get a 1 year warrantee on the parts for a DIY job. Then, if you're really pissed about it you can still mount a small local campaign to let everyone possible know about an unfair warrantee and the use of inferior parts in the repair of your truck as well as complaining to the BBB. You could also try "Small Claims Court" for a remedy. Many fairly large business' would rather refund the entire amount rather than go to court. In Florida a corporation must have an atty. present for even small claims and the individual did not. It is often cheaper for a company to just pay rather than to go to court 'cause lawyers aren't cheap. In any case, good luck with it.
just take your money and go somewhere else. you were looking for a cheap price and got cheap service to go with it. besides if 90 days is there policy and stated as such. going to court will get you no where. if you want better service go to a dealler or a reputible shop that covers parts and labor. i know all ford parts are 12/12 and if put on in our shop that is parts and labor. a good shop will give you the same coverage.

do you have 4wd? did they do wheel bearings on both sides or one side......I am trying ot figure out the $85 for parts........I thought for 4wd you replace the whole assembly? it is like $200 a piece..........if it 2wd and one wheel $85 is high for bearings and a seal?.plus if it is 2wd and the bearings got trashed you have to make sure the races in the rotor did not get trashed also....
