Starting to think about looking for a new hood for my truck. Wanting to verify that all the hoods from 61-66 are the same. I will be buying one for a 66. I am in north central North Carolina if there are suggestions.
They all will fit. The early ones have the emblem on the hood sides, so there are holes that have to be filled. I've also noted that the bigger F series trucks can donate their hoods as well. Even the big F850 type hood could probably be used if you cut off the lower portion...I think it's just an added part to a F series stamping.
Flashback F-100's is in your neck of the woods and they have all rust-free western sheet metal. I was thinking of taking a trip down there myself for a hood and tailgate.

There's been a lot of discussion about Tom being 'proud' of his parts. There is a threshold of pain involved with paying top dollar for sheet metal, but if you can't find any yourself locally, you then must pay for the service of having it brought to you. Tom's the only guy on the planet who takes several trips a year out west, lays in junkyards with snakes and scorpions, and removes, loads and hauls (at single digit fuel mileage) gates, cabs, fenders, beds, core supports and complete trucks. I don't even know that he makes a lot of money on the parts when you factor in the time, hotels, meals, fuel, etc to do this but it does get him business and customers for the balance of his parts biz. For those of us in the rust belt, he is really the only solution for getting some of this stuff other than making a trip ourselves or paying hundreds in shipping to companies with forklift drivers who wreck more than they don't.
