some of you know that i bought a 63 F250 last week, and it came without the tailgate. today the old owner called and said he found the one from the truck and to come and get it.
But, of corse he wanted money for it. when i saw the condition i gladly gave him his asking price.
Bill, I asked for the gate before i bought the truck. the guy said he did not have it anymore, with as much junk as this old guy had stacked in his yard i kind of thought it might be around, Michael (the old owner) said he took it off the truck in 1981 and stored it away. i'm not suprized he forgot he had the thing.
It was well worth the extra benjamin i gave for it.
You may have gotten an excellent deal on the truck AND also the tailgate, I don't know, but...
It's just that the PO was a chicken****. He should have been man enough to tell you, "Yeah, I got the tailgate too, but here's the price", NOT "Duh, I don't think I have it" and then a week later he 'finds' it and decides it is a separate deal, since he had it hidden. From the looks of that tailgate, he had it put back and just LIED to you!
He SHOULD have given you the tailgate, no matter what kind of deal you got on the truck.
