So i was looking at the Diesel o-ring site that Clay posted on my thread about an oil leak, and i saw a replacement plug for the 'non-serviceable" plug thats on the HPOP. Where exactly is that plug located? Is it the plug on the drivers side, below the two lines and angled down towards the front driver side tire?
If so, my plug was loose, and was the cause of my oil leak that i had posted about earlier. Well, so far it seems like it was the cause. I tightened it up best i could and cleaned all around it and doesnt seem to be leaking now, and the oil level isnt goin down, so heres to hoping thats all it was.
Im wondering if i should replace that plug though? It doesnt seem like the sorta thing that should come loose..so im expecting theres a reason it did, and that it will do it again. Thoughts?
That was my way of thinking. The HPOP needs to be removed to do that, so im thinkin I will order complete o-rings for it as well as the gasket and new plug as i imagine theres a bit of time involved in taking the HPOP off...may as well do everything i can while im there right.

So that is the "non-serviceable" plug then?
Yes, that is the non servicable plug. It is not that hard of a job, just a bunch of things to get out of the way. Make sure you order fuel line sleeves also, since the stock ones will probably fall apart when you remove the fuel lines to take off the fuel bowl. Another little hint, stop by a local marine dealer, and get a pump kit for lower unit gear oil. It is just a little plastic pump that fits down in your HPOP resevoir and makes evacuating the oil very easy.
Be sure to get the new one with longer threads, I tried to re-use my old one at someones reccomendation on this forum and just use green loctite (at the time I didn't know the others were available) after about a week I tested it by romping on it and that plug blew into the street, oil every where and a $100 tow and new HPOP.
I have a '99 ford f350 with the 7.3 powerstroke. I beleive that my hpop is also leaking after reading the other posts on the subject. I cleaned the valley and then stuffed some rags in the middle of the valley. Drove home from work (20 min drive) and then checked when I got home and there was a little bit of oil in the front half of valley. Pressuming this if going to be the hpop. Anywho, I came across the slideshow from http://terminatorengineering.com (I beleive is correct) on how to remove the hpop if you are going to replace the hpop. I am also presuming that this is what I need to do in order to change out the o-rings, gasket, etc? Question is, can someone refer me to the person who sells the o-ring, gasket, and non-serviceable plug kits? I saw it once but cannot remember who or where it was. Also approx. how much time is invovled in changing everything out? I have some mech. ability but not a certified mech. After removing oil from hpop resevoir, is there much of an oil mess falling on the ground or not much of a mess? I saw from bdrummonds that I should also get fuel line replacement. Is there only one type or can you refer to specific ones? Again, limited mech. knowledge here. I appreciate everyone's input on this site. Actually repaired my AC problem from reading posts and was amazed how simple it was to do it. To think I went the last two years with an ac which blew hot air if I wasn't jamming down the highway. Now I can keep the kiddos nice and cool in dad's truck instead of having to place the ol' boys on the kitchen counter and drive the kids in the misses' Odyssey Anywho I really do love the site and all the knowledge which everyone shares to make repairs possible to us less mech. inclined. Thanks for any responses. Dugd111
Thanks for the quick reply riffraff. I have placed the order from your site and now just finding a place and time to do the quick change. Any idea on how long it takes someone to replace the o-rings, plug, and gasket? Thanks again!!

From start to finish you are looking at about 3-4 hours for your first time. Just take your time and it will go smoothly.
I had about 7-8 hours in doing the swap a few weeks back, a little slow since it was the first time I was pulling any of this apart and I took the time to clean everything while it was apart, Im a little bit of a neat freak at times..lol My plug was loose as well
The write up on guzzles page is a good guide, my 2002 was a little different but it was helpful. I made my own wrench to take the lines off, if you need one I can make one for ya I used my Mite-Vac to suck the oil out of the pump
I used parts from Clay @ Riffraff, plug kit, orings, gasket and you will need the Parker Fuel sleeves as previously mentioned. You'll also need to go to your local Ford dealer and pick up the Diesel specific RTV needed for the cover plate up front.... I rebuilt the IPR while it was apart as well...
