The 5.8/351 never changed so you could use any longblock in your truck but to get the same package you have now you'll want a '94+ truck motor, all earlier motors have flat tappet cams and everything between 1974 and 1986 have worse heads.

Are 92s flat tappet?, using a 94+ cam would require me to go MAF in order to get the improvement?.

Yes a '92 5.8 has a flat tappet cam and no you don't need mass air to use a '94+ roller motor... the motor in your truck right now has a roller cam in it.

your best and easiest swap would be a 94+ F250/F350 5.8.

if you grab a 96 5.8 out of a bronco or f150 you will have a lot more stuff to change out since the efi and such on that motor was setup for obd-II,

is this rig your daily driver? if not i would just pull what you have and rebuild it.

not exactly since the oil pan would be different as would the oil pickup tube. but honestly you should be changing the oil pump before installing a used motor anyway.

Yeah the van got the same motor with a few minor external differences.. but it's the same motor so it'll work too.
