i just check my edelbrock catalog and it has no listings other then a tb for our ford mod. motor. since its a 80 truck find a 302 or 351 and start there. you will have tons of choices to make just as i did with my 95 f150. both are good motors and will give you years of fun at a price within reason at todays prices.

where there is a will there is a way, in this case i would go with the 5.0 or .8 and make life much easier on my self. wiring would be a piece of cake motor and trans mounts no problem and a lot of cheap parts every where. esp. mail order,if this your first build up you will learn at a easy pace with a easy job, a computer motor as a first might turn you off to a later swap.

The only carbureted mod motors I've seen were one off custom everything drag cars. Right around when the 32v 4.6L was introduced in the Cobra in 96 there was an article in MM&FF about someone who had built a carb'd 32v car. I think it had a belt driven distributor w/ remote crank trigger to get around the fact there was never a provision for a distributor in these engines. It had some wow factor, but there are far less expensive ways to make that kind of power so I don't think anyone has bothered duplicating it since.

$600 for just the intake, and it's for a DOHC engine...
I'd suppose that ignition requires crank trigger, or a belt drive mag...
