Nuetral Safety Switch fail!

I need help. I think that my fuse link D has failed and needs to be replaced.

I cannot find the dang thing. I see it in the wiring diagram but cannot pin point its location.

Can anyone help?

Oh yeah a forgot. It's the fuse link between the ignition and the starter solenoid!

Ok so I was looking for the fuse link that showed in the wiring diagram and I was moving wires around and one of them just fell out of the connector because it was completely broken off. I am going to replace the wire/connector tomorrow and see if that fixes my starting problem. If it does then I will know exactly where the fuse link is and I will post results!

Did you have any luck with it today? Did you have power to The switch?
When I get home I will look up some info and get back with you.
It was nice to meet you. Will most likely be back in the fall and if you are here se you then.

I did not have enough time to really track down the wire all of the way. Mainly because I think the wires change color when they go through the firewall I need to figure out what color it is insdie of the cab but it seems to have good continuity up until the fire wall. If the firewall connector is bad I might just put in a push start that bypasses the switch because I don't really want to mess with that bunch of wires. I'll test more tomorrow and post back up.

I appreciate the help Encho, it seems I was looking at the wrong diagram and I was looking for a fuseable link that had nothing to do with my starting problem.
Since I have replaced all of the starting parts it has to be a bad wire/connector so I am trying to hunt it down tomorrow.

I got a good trouble shooting guide from FSB forum. I think I was overlooking a few things. Mainly I did not check the new relay (it might be bad out of the box), the gound to the relay, or the ignition rod may be bent. I'll check it all tonight or tomorrow morning and post back up!

The rod could be bent but It would have to be bent by hand somehow. too hard to bend by use.
A ground problem from the relay to ground could cause the problem. Run a new wire from ground to battery - post to see.
A bad relay out of the box, well maybe but I would say very low chance.
Still need to see if you have 12 volts into the ignition switch.
After returning home I looked at a wiring diagram and remembered the neutral safety switch in line.

I will look into it more.

Ok I think I have found the problem...
When I looked at the NSS (nuetral safety switch) it was soaked in transmission fluid and had a seperation in the seal around the wiring...

This is the connector it seems to be the only thing that is different between the 1989 and 1990 part. My truck is an 89 but it seems to have this 1990 part on it. Maybee it was a late production. anyway the 89 has a male connector attached to the sensor the 90 has a female connector. This pic is the 90 connector...

this is the side you would see when you go to remove it...

It works! Halealeuyah!
It was the NSS. I got a new one from Advance, it is a borg warner design. I am a little dissapointed in the quality of the seal around the wiring. But if it fails again it will take me five minutes to replace. Here is a pic of the old and new ones...

Here is a pic of it installed. It is located on the drivers side of the tranny right where the shift lever and downshift lever are located. All anyone would have to do is remove two bolts and a nut. the hardest part is the nut which you have to immobilize to remove and install. I hope this helps some body else out there!

Glad it is fixed and the cost was small!

Well it is fixed but not for cheap. I ended up spending about 150 throwing parts at the problem when the bad part only set me back 40. But I don't mind throwing parts at a 21 year old truck with 260xxx miles on it. It will probably save me hassles down the road.
