Need some help....

Hi all...
Can y'all tell me the symptoms of a failing oil pump? I cannot tell if it's my pump or if it's my oil sending unit.

My symptoms are as follows:

Randomly the oil pressure gauge will drift down to zero for a second and then "Spring" back to the normal level. Does not matter if I'm accelerating or decelerating or sitting still. Also doesn't seem to matter if the engine is cold or hot. The engine appears to be running fine with no strange noises. THe truck has just shy of 120k on it.

Thanks for your help.

First thing is to pull the sender and install a manual gauge. Then go from there.

Thanks. Never done that sort of thing before. Any tips? Where to start, which one to buy, etc....

Advance, Auto Zone, O-Reilly, eBay.

Which engine does your truck have in it? You may have an oil pick-up screen clog problem if it's not the sender.
