Here are some details that may help you help me figure this out. I have a 2004 Eddie B, Ex. It has about 99000 mi. It had an 8 inch lift and 37x17 inch tires on it when I bought it. I have had it about 6 mo. and it has had a wander since I got it. The tires were worn out so I thought that was the issue. I installed 37x13.5x17 inch Toyo's which didn't change the wander. The rear had lift blocks. I know the issues lift blocks create so I ordered 8" lift springs. I ended up removing the lift blocks, the factory blocks and the factory bump stop blocks. The rear springs sit directly on top of the spring perch. I have no axle wrap or vibration at all. There is anti sway bars front and rear. The steering box had some play in it when I got it. The play was removed with the allen bolt and nut on top of the box. I had new ball joints installed. I checked the tierods this weekend and they are good. I got under the front and had my son crank the wheel back and forth and there is no slop at all. It almost feels like the wander comes from the rear. When you swerve going down the road there is a lot of sway in the rear. I really can't tell where it is coming from. If I slightly overcorrect the ex really gets squirelly. It also swerves if you hit the brakes hard. I am totally lost on this thing.
There are several things that are int he drive train that can cause wander, these are not in any particular order just as i think of them. Properly rated and inflated tires/balanced, front end aligned, steering box, ball joints, tie rods. these are the big ones I think of.
I have the same wander issue and have done almost all but the steering box to date.
I dont know of an EX that doesnt have atleast a little bit of wander in it....and being that high over stock is probably multiplying the effect somewhat.....just a thought since you seem to have covered all the other obvious issues..
Thanks, I have tried tire pressures from 45 to 65 psi. I also had the alignment checked and the caster was over 4 and camber was spot on. How about radius rods, do you guys think they would help?
