I have a newly rebult 390, with about 400 miles on it, When you start the truck there is no noice but when it gets warm, a tapping noice starts! Any ideas what this could be? I do have a header leak but this is not that! Sometimes it wont even make it, but most of the time when engine is warm it will make the noice?
my only toughts are pushrods to long, or stuck lifter, But I am unsure what both of those would sound like?
Still runs fine...

Or a lifter going flat (not staying pumped up) part of the time. A too long push rod would probably cause a flat or weak cylinder rather than be noisy.
Definitely sounds like something in the top end (cam/lifter/pushrod/rocker/valve) because the sound repeats slower than the engine RPM. Time to pop the valve covers.
Agreed. You have something in the top end making the noise. If you get yourself a stick and place it on different places on the valve cover you can narrow your search down. Use it like a poor mans stethoscope. This will at least get you to the right cylinder. Good luck.
Ticking valves progressed to a noticably...something's getting ready to happen sound, so I pulled over. In doing so she lost all oil pressure. So... by the time(<60 seconds) I rolled to a stop, truck stopped running and upon attempted restart, observation said she had a seizure.

125000 miles old.
'Fis was you, what'd you think I should do? ((feed me some good beta/advice)(Tell me what to did or at least whatchyodeww if this was you)).
Might seem easy stoopid for problem solved, I won't take offense to what seems obvious to advisor(you)I'm asking for ideas please.
Apreciated are your replies..., signed, Durtbahl

Reason: N.O.Y.D.B.
That's what my engine sounded like. Pop the valve cover and see which lifter isn't moving the full stroke. Mine ended up being a rounded off lifter and cam lobe.
Pop the valve covers off. Start up the engine and watch the rocker movement. With the noise that your engine is making, I would think it would be pretty obvious which one(s) aren't moving their full stroke.
Looked at the lifter and it seems to be good, no groves, not rounded... Im assuming you test them by pushing on them and if they collapse or theres any play its dead? Or is there a different way to test them?
Also would this lifter cause the rockerarm galley not to get oil?
