Ok, I have seen a picture of chrome trim around the headlining in the dentsides...mine doesn't have any, should it? It is a 1977 F150 Ranger XLT 4x4. If it should, any ideas on where to get some? I can't see it in the Dennis Carpenter catalogue, nor do I remember it in the NPD catalogue....
Thanks,
Shane
As a Ranger XLT it should have the chrome trim.
I don't know of anyone that has any or is reproducing them.
Does yours have the painted trim? If so, you could have it plated. Other than that salvage yards or classifieds would be your best bet.
If you want to search the obsolete parts suppliers or Ford dealers here are the part numbers you need:
There are four pieces
D3TZ-1517C04-B Roof trim rear RH bright finish
D3TZ-1517C05-B " " LH " "
D3TZ-1517C08-B " front RH " "
D3TZ-1517C09-B " " LH " "
I took the chrome trim out of my 77 custom explorer because I had a set of painted trim that was in better shape. I still have the chrome trim that is unbent if your intererested. The chrome isn't the best, but could be plated. shane@sandenwood.com
I've collected several set's from local junk yards; some rusty some flawless; Don't let the rust scare ya from getting a set it that's the only one's avaiable.
I use WD-40 & Triple O steel wool and clean the set's that are slightly rusted; then wax them; never seem to have a problem finding them in local salvage yards; so hopefully you'll find a set as well.
I wish I could find them in wrecking yards, but being in New Zealand, there aren't very many of them around.....and none in wreckers. Luckily someone here has offered me a set, I will publically thank you, without your name, unless you are happy for me to say, I do appreciate the offer, and I have taken it. I am sure they will clean up nice.
I have to rely on the generosity of others to find parts like this for me, I can get stuff from NPD, DC, RockAuto, but stuff like this, well, I just have to rely on the generosity of you guys over there, I better add I will always pay for any parts I am offered too.
If anyone is willing and able to help me source the odd un-reproduced part from wreckers, I would appreciate it too.
Thanks,
Shane
