what is the deal with these fuel filters. I just put this thing in two days ago, now while trying to find the solution to my other post I was going to have another look in the fuel bowl. well I unscrewed the fuel filter and thought it looked a little odd so I looked at the old one I just took out two days ago and concluded that the entire bottom of the new one is stuck in the fuel bowl.
I am stuck with dial up here in the sticks and I have been trying to figure out my problem for two days now and have not got to far so if this has already been covered my bad, I am just tired of hitting that search button and waiting everytime.
Thanks for the help
Are you buying aftermarket fuel filters that have the cap already on them? If so, those arent the ones recommended to often on this site. I use the motorcraft filters.
If you go to advanced autoparts they sell the ones I'm talking about. If you go to the stealership they will try and get you for 65 bucks. Or just buy them from Clay at the link I just gave you.
I just bought a fuel filter from napa are they any good, they don't have that white screen on the filter but says it repels water.
BTW 40.00 i got ripped cause clay sells them for 22.00 plus 6.00 shipping
I know a lot of folks poo-poo the filters with integrated caps, but y'all wouldn't have that problem if you purchased those of a reputable filter manufacturer.
Your welcome. Now what other problem are you having?
My other problem is explained in my other thread I think it is titled Now whats wrong. I am thinking it is injector O rings from what I have gathered. Just idleing a little rough when I come to a stop and also when I start to take off. Kinda smooths out about the time the turbo kicks in. The last few times I started it up I get the old romp romp romp for a little bit before it smooths out and even after it smooths out something just doesnt sound right to me. Guess I need to get it on a diagnostic machine somewhere and see if they cant tell me something.
Soo Wix is not considered a reputable manufacturer?
What is the good brand with the caps?
I thought wix was supposed to be good and have been buying various filters.
Thanks for the heads up
