'76 360 emissions

I recently bought a '76 F-100 4x4 with a 360 in it. I am going to paint the truck and originally intended to rebuild the motor using a 390 rotating assembly. The thing is the 360 runs like a top, develops good oil pressure, runs cool, doesnt seem to use much oil and other then the typical sludge buildup on the oilpan and tranny from what must be a leaking rear main seal, looks pretty good. It still has the smog pump on it but its locked up and of course no belt and it looks like the tubes running alongside the exhaust has been pinched off. I think I'll run it until it quits but can anyone tell me much about the smog stuff and how to go about removing it? Was also thinking about headers but it sure looks tight in there, maybe just dual exhaust until a rebuild, what do you think?
