engine light & erratic shifting at same time

engine light & erratic shifting at same time
My engine light, 1995 Powerstroke, just came on, and at the same time it also started erratically up-shifting and down-shifting. After doing some research, one possibility mentioned, is the ICP switch. Has anyone encountered this problem? If you believe it is the ICP switch please help me identify if, where it's located and what it looks like. Many thanks.....Horst

If you start changing parts before reading the code that's stored you will probably spend a lot more money than if you paid someone to read the codes. Knowing what code was set will point you at the problem instead of guessing.

Thanks Michael for the picture and the effort you put into it. I did take the connector off the icp and the icp had a bit of oil in it. I'll be waiting to hear if anyone else has had similar symptoms and then resolved the problem by replacing the icp sensor. Since it does seem to be leaking oil internally I'll order one from International since they're almost 1/4 cost than Ford (so I heard) - I'll see. Take care...HK
