Looking at the Edelbrock Performer 2171 intake with Performer 600cfm carb. Already have cam and headers, so will see how that does.

My close friend who is in to 66-77 Doncos told me I ought to think about fuel injection, thought I could find a setup around $700. Any ideas???

haha. funny you should ask that. im plannin on EFI on mine as well, and have the perfect kit picked out.

Carb-to-EFI Conversion Has Never Been EZer

they have it now where you can run a dual TB kit. they send you a different harness, and the provisions to make it dual. the computer is already set up for it. its pretty freakin sweet, and can be completely installed, set up, and runnin in under an hour.

lol. do you mean it blew your plans for $700, or the $700 you had planned for got blown away by a way better kit?

Yea, blew the plans for getting by with FI for $700. We'll see how it goes once I get to tinkering with her. I'm knee deep in looking through all of the 3G Alt threads right now, along with elec fan cooling using the Mk III setup. Think I'll get it where it needs to be on the cheap first, then start sinking the big bucks on things like FI.

Say, here's some pics of the engine bay, 460/5 do you or anyone else have any opinions on what should be addressed??? Anything to be tossed out, anything missing???

lol. well, for the money, you will NOT find an easier to use, easier to set up system than the FAST kit. actually, money aside, you wont find one, period. things to help you net more ponies right away, one you mentioned: electric fan and smog delete. i cant really see it in the pics, but it looks to me as though the former may have already been done. right away, things that i do as soon as i buy a new vehicle, regardless of what the PO says about it, i replace the plugs and wires, and do a full fluid change as soon as possible, change all the filters, pretty much all the little stuff that can be done on a good saturday afternoon. looks as though, to me, you found yourself a really nice truck thats good and clean all around. looks like there might be some random wirin goin on on the drivers side fender though...?

It has aux lights on the front bumper, so I imagine that's what the white random wire is. Thanks for all of your input! As flr the smog delete, what all am I yanking out? I've noticed on the driver side valve cover, some guys have a filter setup at the PCV? valve whereas mine has two hoses that are running towards the back of the carb...Why and what for? Keep in mind, I'm looking at the same pics posted above, I don't have possession of the pickup yet to be hands on, if anyone hasn't read the whole thread

Just got the call, the truck is getting picked up today and they expect it to be delivered this Thursday!

I'm using M2Reeves transport company and so far has been pretty good dealing. They called a day or two after I placed the order and said they screwed up and had to raise the price $170. I haggled with them, and did some checking with other companies. Turns out all the quotes I originally got were wrong, and they all went up due to fuel costs on the west coast. Anyway, we did the deal and they met me in the middle and only raised the price $85. When they called today to let me know it was getting picked up, the deposit went down from $249 to $166. So all is good, can't wait to get it here on Thursday!

I'm thinking that way, too.I'm actualy looking at the pics I have of the engine right now, just trying to identify what's what, trying to decide in what order I'm goin to do everything. I have my eye on a 78 F100 up at a local salvage yard, I know the owner gets hungry at the end of the month, so I'm going to run up and see if I can pick it up for a few hundred bucks. It might be the donor for A/C and some other factory parts, then I'll start parting it out. I'm itching to get my hands dirty!

dude thats sweet! not a bad price either. im thinkin bout usin a motor from a pump like that, makin a bracket for it, puttin a pulley on it, and runnin the powersteerin that way.
