Crew Cab problems.

Crew Cab problems.
One of the local wrecking yards has a 66 F-350 crew cab. 6 cylinder 4 speed. it has a utility box and is pretty beat up all around with rust in the floors, rockers and all the usuall places. my problem is I would like to get it, they want $600 for the cab and $800 for the cab and frame. i know it doesn't run and all I'm interested in is the cab and frame. I'm not sure if $800 is too much or a fair price. I hate to see it get crushed but I don't want to over pay for a big project.

WALK AWAY! No need to start a project that far in the hole and pay that much money.
David aka Garbz is out in Az. now, has experience with crews, and may be able to help locate one for you.
You could pay more money for a less rusted one and come out miles ahead. Rust bucket projects will beat you down bad trying to get even or ahead of it. IMHO

Go back and look it over and describe rusty as rusty in Colorado is not the same as rusty in the north east.
Also look if it is a factory crew 65 66 or a coach-built crew 61 to 66.
600 is a fair price for a complete cab with the doors and all the parts. The F350 frame s the six lug type and can be fairly difficult to gets parts for.

The rust is just below the lower door hinge on the front doors. I never checked the back doors. On the back of the front door jam is rusted and has the 61-64 style door steps. The floor boards under the pedals are gone. I'm not sure about the pass side. The cab has some small dents on the back corners where the gas filler is, on both sides. I don't really care about the chassis I just want the frame. I'm not sure yet if I wanna do a 4x4 or a slammed hauler. How do you tell if it is factory built or coach built?

Original ford crew cab then.... not a conversion.
too bad it in the scrap pile, i have some of the metal you need to fix the rust, I will send it to you for what the shipping cost if you end up buying it.

1953/66 F350's have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle. There are no other wheels that can be substituted.

600 is a little high, but for a super rare truck like that, its worth repairing, even if you re-use only the roof and B pillars and replace all of the other metal.
I paid 650 bucks to rescue a '75 crew cab body 4 years ago.
I have only seen (1) 61-66 crew cab, and it wasn't for sale.
