Sorry if I offend anyone...
But I think the 2004 looks like a hopped up Nissan.
I guess it may just be me, but I prefer a truck that isn't made of plastic. That's proboally why the newest truck I own is a 90 model.
The interiors look really nice, but the outsides of almost all new trucks (no matter what brand) all seem to have the same basic fender/hood shapes.
That's just my 2 cents on the subject....
Guess I'll just stick w/ my 66 Ford F-100 Custom Cab again this year. lol
Thanks
I seen the pictures of them
What turns me off about the whole truck is the front fenders
IMHO they look like just like the newer Nissan trucks.
Other than that they look ok. Its just the fenders make a really bad turn off I think.
That's why I wouldn't buy one... plus if Im buying a new truck Im gonna buy a Superduty or something... 4 door, possibly dualie.
Thanks for updating the poll, I just slapped it together, and couldn't think of very many options to put.
Mil1ion is right: you really can't judge these trucks till you see them in person. The pictures just don't do them justice. They're certainly FAR better looking than the "warmed-over-1988" look of the Silverado, or the grotesque "my-you-know-what's-ain't-nearly-big-enough" thing called Dodge. I'm sorry, but that truck is WAY overdone. There is something to be said for subtlety, you know what I mean?
I was about to purchase a Ram with Hemi. I didn't like the looks much but wanted a HEMI. Then a couple of posts on DTO.org told of 1/4 mile times. Disappointingly slow. I was about to do a deal on a GMC but I saw the '04 F150. 300 hp with a body like that! It's like having a beautiful woman that has brains. Perfect! An improvement over the current model because it is a little more "macho". I'm just waiting for them to go on sale. I'll have one ordered the way I want it and it'll be one of the first ones in town.
What do ya expect from that new Hemi?
Its still a 350... lol... 5.7 liter hemi... EWW dodge is really moving up now. As for the chevrolets... I wouldnt own a new one. Im just happy with my 90 Z71 w/ 350 for hunting season, and as a daily driver til I get my FORD running again. But if you want a real truck... stick with Ford, even if I don't like the new body style that much. lol
Well Andy, obviously I expected better E.T.s than was posted. The H.P. rating on the Hemi is ~same as The Ford H.D. but the H.D is almost a second faster. And that is an extra cab vs. an R.C. the Hemi was in. I like Chevys. My car is a Trans Am. But, Contrary to a lot of current Ford owners, I like the new body style. I don't like the step side as much but the literature says we will be able to get a 5.5 beg with the Supercab. I like that.
You've gotta look at the base XL model in standard cab. It is a great looking truck--I want one, but with a stick. Now the fancy dancy model in extended cab with flareside looks like an Explorer Sport trac--they can keep it.
saw the 2004 at the houston auto show last week and it looks great. in my opinion a great improvement over the looks of the 1997-2003 style. As for the dodge hemis, max horsepowere isnt reached until 4400 rpm's or so. Give me the low end grunt and torque of a Ford anyday.
The Hemi power seems to be targeting a muscle car and I don't think it is going to perform well in trucks. The Dodge boys are happy with it because it is such an improvement over the doggy 5.9. The low end grunt of the 5.4 Triton along with the change in body style is what swayed me toward Ford. I hope the new 3 valve motor doesn't lose that low end power. Both of my sons have Lightnings and they pull like animals right off bottom even before they are building much boost. I do agree that the flareside could use some work. It is too square and the tie downs on the outside of the bed don't turn my crank. Since they are going to offer the supercab with a 5.5 bed I think I will go that route. When I see them in person I may choose the 6.5 bed though.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! THAT 6.0! I wasn't thinking diesel. That is one fine engine. I am not a good candidate for diesel. Usage and low miles per year equals no payback for the investment. I'm more of a hotrodder.
