I just got an 01 f-350 (7.3 with 80k) and its my first Ford. Im already making plans for it. I will be using it for towing toys around (boats, quads, snowmobiles, and my offroad truck) and ocasional daily driving. I am going to build a flat bed for it as soon as my offroad project truck is finished. I want to get bushwacker cut-out flares for the front. What size tire will fill up the wheel wells and just barely clear? I was originally thing 35x12.5's but after searching for hours Im thinking I might be able to clear 37's. If thats the case I think I will go with Toyo mt's. Anyone have pics with cut-outs and no lift?
What do you guys recomend for tire size and brand? Also, I am planning on getting a K&N intake (unless theres a better one), and Im going to ditch the stock cat and muffler, and add a 5 or 6'' stack. Will it still tow a 6k lbs truck around just fine, or will I need to re-gear it? I'm used to chevys that need re-geared if you have 33's on them and plan on towing. I think I might be ok with the 7.3, but I have very little expirence with them. Thanks for the help.
Here is a guys with 36" tires and just a leveling kit. You should have no problem with 37" tires with the right wheels (back spacing) and a little trimming of the front bumper.
Sweet. Im going to build a tube bumper for the front, so clearance in the front isnt an issue. I was just worried about the tire eating the back of the fender flare.
I have a 7.3 running 37's (its a 97) and I have no problem pulling my crawler on a trailer. It sits at about 6k lbs. like yours. I have 4.10's in the axles, 7.3L backed by a E4OD automatic, and a K&N air intake, with NO cat and 3" exhaust from turbo down!
