Every time my AC compressor clutch engages/disengages, there is a loud and annoying clicking sound heard inside the cab. It just recently started and sounds like it's getting worse. It's coming from the dash area around the glove box. Is there a relay that needs to be replaced or something?
Check and make certain it is not coming from inside the engine compartment rather than the dash plenum.
I can't think of anything in the AC system in that location inside the cab that might make such a noise. OTOH, the accumulator is right on the other side of the firewall. I suspect you have noise coming from the compressor that happens to be transmitting into the cab, but you need to stick your head under the hood while the system is cycling to pinpoint the source of the sound.
