My truck has a toolbox in the bed... a cap or tonneau would'nt be a wise choice in my line of work. Say I'm carrying some manure, under a cap... sun beats down on it, it ferments and crawls out on the road. Naw, there's already too many Ch**y's out there.
Now, especially with the extended cab, one doesn't have to worry about the groceries blowing away or getting wet. I view my truck as a working truck with tool boxes and an open bed. Guess if the old lady threw me out of the house, would want one of those covers, however.
Had the factory fiberglas topper on my first '79 f150--was
a big hassle to take on & off and to store... The 2000 f150
I had a little over a year had a factory soft tonneau cover,
looked good and was "snapless". Now 'ol "Midnight", '79
I have now is open to the elements... They need to come
up with a simple tent designed for a truck bed that can be
easily put up or taken down for camping... J.R.
E4Corporal;
I no longer need a toolbox, But I'm looking into some of those little diamond plate side bokes that sit in the bed just behind the wheel wells for keeping gear in.
