I've owned a Ford truck, in one form or another, for over ten years now. Since I bought my first, a black '58, I've bought and sold numerous others, a 48 F1, a 52 F1 Panel, a 57 (my current), a 62, two 68's, a 76, and an 85. I've also gotten married and now have two kids. Four of us won't fit in my old truck. Because of this, I've had my eyes open for an early 60's Galaxie or Fairlane in similar shape to trade. Well, I may have found that car, a '62 Galaxie. I've been close, but not this close. I'm going tonight to check it out. If we both like what we see, the deal will be made. I'll still check in frequently, though it may be to lurk rather than post, not that I've done a tremendous amount of the latter. Most of you guys and gals have been amazing. I couldn't have put my truck together without you and I truly hope that I've contributed to at least one of your builds. So, this isn't really goodbye, more like until we meet again. Sincerely, John Turner aka Black58
HEY don't go and don't sell/trade your truck - you'll miss it terribly! Keep it for Adult rides with "Mom."
Your Galaxie shouldn't be too expensive, try to keep them both!
But no matter what - come back to visit. Ya know a lot of those parts and stuff we are using on the trucks. So stick around!
I know you are right about missing the truck Julie. I sure will. However, it's not a really rare vehicle, and the mods that have been done to it, can easily be done again to the next one. I don't have the space to keep two extra vehicles right now, I barely have the space for the one as it is. My daily driver sits out in the street at night. My wife and I both have found memories in the truck up until the kids came along. Since then, my wife hasn't gotten to ride in it once. My oldest will be four in August (side note, where does the time go?). My wife was brought up in a family that ALWAYS had at least one, if not two or three, toys in the stable, so it's not like she's making me get rid of it. It simply is what it is, I live to spend time with my family, and I would LOVE to be able to take the family to a cruise night, or on a Sunday drive, or to wherever, and right now, I can't. In the future, things might be different, my father-in-law has a sweet '55 F100 (second side note, on our first date, when my future wife saw my truck, she was super excited to show me her dad's truck.) and no more kids at home. He loves taking the grandkids out in it, and he loves cruising with my mother-in-law. So, to sum it all up, I can always get another truck, though it will feel weird at first to not be an old Ford truck owner. As to sticking around, I don't think I could really ever leave.
hey the galaxie was probably a daily back in the 60's and could do it again and it would probably be a whole lot more fun then these new fangled modern cars.
Well, I didn't make the deal. Way too much Bondo. He deflated the bags as he pulled up and then left it that way, as if to say, "Brother, you don't even wanna look under there." Looks like I'm sticking around a bit longer. John
