So there's a few military trucks nearby that I was thinking of buying.
First off: Rockwells from a 6x6, what is the going rate? If I don't use em' I want to make some money off em', you know? Craigslist is showing pairs for $2500 and single axle for $1000. The whole truck is only $1000.
Another truck I was looking at is a pretty cool 40's military truck. He said he's scrapping it so I was going to try to get it for scrap prices or maybe just the cab. I had another 40's truck I was going to get a few months ago, but the cab was too far gone to repair.
So what do you guys think I should do? Buy the cab and make some beast.. maybe remove my F-350 cab and put the 40's cab on it. Rip out the ****ed up EFI and put a carb on it.
Hmmm.. decisions decisions.. can't wait to hear back on them lol.
The 6x6 is worth the $1000 if you have provisions to move it around. Rockwell axles can't be found for under $1200 for a front and rear around here. I gave $200 for a rear. You could take the rest of the truck to a scrap yard if you don't feel like parting it out and make some pretty good money as steel prices are on the slow rise again (at least in my area). I'd buy it in less than a heart beat but that's because I still need a front axle.
I've searched and searched to find a front for less than $1000 but any time I find a set for about $1100, they won't split the pair. So to answer your question, if someone had a stock, toploader right now for $800, I'd hand them the money.
They can be had around Fla sometimes as pull outs. If U go threw it and clean it up, take off the brakes and reseal it, new boots ect..... U can get more. But normally they are 1200-1500 for a front.

Get the duece. Throw them axles under your truck and scrap the body. I'd buy it in a second for $1000. Thats a hell of a price.
Even if you don't want to keep the rocks, takeout's go for around $1300 hear a set.
I don't know about scrapping the F350 lol. Maybe put the rocks under something else. Or put the rocks on the F-350 and put the 1 tons from the F350 on the ranger haha.

I think he meant scrap the body of the M35 but the 2.5 ton full size and 1 ton ranger idea sounds like a good plan!!!
sounds like a money maker either way you look at it, and the 40's cab on a newer 4x4 would be sweet if done right. about getting rid of the fuel injunktion on yer truck, it should be easy for you. yours can just swap the intake if i'm not mistaken, 89 and up need to swap the heads and intake to carb style for the swap
Interesting. Thanks for the information Dan.
The 40's truck must be gone, I havn't got a call or email back from the guy.
I'm looking at the other 6x6 hopefully on Thursday. If I like it i'll get it home this weekend. I had a question about the axles though, are the only axles under the M35's 2 1/2 ton rockwells? I will obviously look at axles, but I want to make sure i'm not getting some 2.35 ton McCrapAxle. But hell, I might just resell the whole 6x6. Cheapest on craigslist was 4500, most expensive was 8000. A little body work to it, maybe a tune-up and that thing will be better then new.
