Checked everything. It all seems to be together. My clutch has sunk down. Its not as stiff to push in to change gears. ( it disengages further near the floor )The truck will still shift , but this has me worried as I have a 600 mile trip coming up. Any idea whats going on with my clutch ? Please help. Thanks everyone.
Would be nice to be able to narrow it down with vehicle info.
Some of the things to look at (pertains to various vehicles) (not in any order)
Broken Separating disk.
Broken Pressure plate assembly.
Lack of Fluid.
Air in Fluid.
Master failing.
Slave failing.
Loose or broken slave.
Firewall Breakage where the Clutch master mounts.
Pedal Pivot pins.
Pedal Master Pushrod pin.
Cracked or broken Bell housing.
Linkage slop.
Worn or broken release fork.
Throw out bearing (You would hear this)
Neither of those symptoms are necessarily a problem.
Pressure plate diaphrams can stiffen with age & a worn clutch plate allows the pedal to rise up higher when it engages & disengages. You probably had both of these conditions before you fitted the new parts.
Can you select reverse without grinding? Any slippage in top gear under heavy load? Free-pedal adjusted?
