Hey here is my attempt at painted gauges. I was going to do a different color scheme but wasnt sure if the red i wanted to use would look good with my red in my truck already. Anyways I did Silver with black letters and icons and used red as the needle.
They work great at night too. That is another reason why I wanted to use a lighter color. I suggest if anyone is thinking about doing it they shouldl because its farely easy to do and looks soo much better
I would love to do this but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to get the ***** for the headlights and wipers off.
Teehee, well ill help you. But theres no guarntees your still going to get the wiper **** off!
That things a true PITA!!
The lights is the easy one. If you look behind the **** where it connects to a black box i believe, you will find a little **** you have to push down and then you can pull out the headlights ****.
As for the wipers switch heres a guide to try and get it off. The first time i did this i finally got it off. The 2nd time i took it off i ended up breaking it off and just jb welding it back on!
I would love to do this but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to get the ***** for the headlights and wipers off.
Headlights: Pull out the **** to turn on the lights, and reach under the dash to find the actual switch. On the switch, there is a little button, push it down, and gently pull the ****. It should come out. Gently push the **** back in to turn off the lights, but not hard enough to seat back in. If you would rather unhook the battery, no need to to worry about the last step.
Wipers: There is a spring clip on the backside of the **** itself. Look close, and you should be able to see it. Use a small screwdriver to push that clip towards the back of the ****, and it should pull off.
I made a special tool for the wiper/headlight *****,I took a small probe screwdriver and bent the end into an L shape. So now I just put the end in the slot and pull towards me and it depresses the spring and the **** comes off.
look great man! getting them to work at night is the biggest trick IMO, I had to try a couple different colors before the needles on mine showed well with the lights on them (but i was also using blue leds) but your painting looks rally good and even, i like it when modifications look like thier factory!
ok ill try to get some pics up at night at one point. With my old ones i just took out I am going to paint them red with black numbers and a white needle. its just a experiment to see how they will look
