I used silver Hammerite on a bumper hitch. Didn't seem to do any better, or maybe even as well as a Krylon enamel or the like as far as resisting rock chips, etc. Steve

I have used it on a trailer and other farm uses and it is really good.
extreamly hard to paint tho without getting runs and you are restricted on use , between 50 and 70 degrees if i remember right.
I don't think that I would use it on a vehicle tho.
don't know if thay still make it but when I was working with heavy equipment we used a product called chasis Black. Just clean and then spray. If automotive paint supply doesn't carry it anymore I would use enamel.
