I have a 97 F150 XLT SC I am having a small problem with my emblems. I was reading on some Ford site that the 97-98 emblems cannot be acetone to chrome/steel. Does anyone know this for a fact? Or, could someone tell me how to do it because i am new at that game. Thanks

most emblems are plastic now-a-days. I wouldn't put any type of thinners on them. what are you wanting or trying to do?
If it is metal use a piece of double 00 steel wool. works great on chrome.
I am trying to get some them all chrome. I was at work one day and a guy came in with a 99 F150 with all chrome emblems. Every emblem was chrome. I asked how much he payed for them and he said 3 dollars. Then he told me the acetoning trick. Well it didnt work for me it just made them a whole lot more black. Would you recommend me go to the Factory and order all chrome Emblems???
thanks for your help...
Maybe try a Chrome paint? I have seen them used on models, and such, but never tried anything like that, thats exposed to the elements.. maybe if you cleared over it (its in spraycans too)
