Reason: forgot one word
"i looked up and there was a bumper in my windshield"
Now that is funny!
Those "smart" cars are for dumb people. They might as well be on a skateboard when they get in a crash. I think the average bath robe would protect as well as one of those "cars".
Oh well, they can pat themselves on the back for being so GREEN.

to be honest with all of you when i heard the thunk i thought some jerk wad slapped the quarter panel or tail gate i felt nothing and looking in the mirrors.... well i saw nothing. the person that pulled up on me left said.. quote/ hay dude there is a car under you truck.
I pulled up next to one of those barbie cars in Orlando.
It looks like your feet are right on the front axle. I cant imagine it having a good crash rating.
There isnt much room for a crumple zone.
Your truck prob thought it got bit my a mosquito.
My old 79 Bronco got rear ended while I was waiting for an ambulance to go through an intersection. Pushed me about 15 feet, was an older say mid seventies Monte Carlo. The police and the ambulance going through the light came over to our accident and I was told to stay in the truck until the medics came over. After I was cleared to get out I noticed a policeman laughing at the back of my truck. So I got out and walked over, he said, I think it took some dirt off your bumper, I can see a shinny spot right there. Sure enough, cleaned some crud off my bumper. He goes that car didn't fair to well, the ole trailer hitch pulverized the front of this car. We are talking all the way back to the engine and then some, that cop had to turn away from the car he was laughing so hard. Anyways 10 minutes later I was on my way, no harm, no foul.
It's very common on a truck forum for people to have the attitude "bigger is better." Depending on the type of collision, this may or may not be the case.
I have been in a severe accident in a small car. I was driving my '02 Neon back when it was new...made a bad left turn like 17-year-olds sometimes do and was hit head-on by an Intrepid going nearly 50 MPH. Both cars were mangled messes...but we both walked away.
Well designed unibody cars do an amazing job managing energy in a crash...and they do a far better job at this than a body-on-frame truck ever could. What helps us is our mass...but that mass becomes our mortal enemy whenever we strike something larger or ever end up in a situation that may cause a rollover.
I feel much safer driving my wife's 2008 CR-V than my Super Duty. Stability control, traction control, AWD, unibody structure, airbags everywhere, as well as the highest crash test ratings in the industry. Smaller cars have LOTS of advantages!
Sadly around a year ago a "SMART" car got ran over by a log truck here. The occupants were killed. The wreck was on a rural road and they had been driving for miles with their left turn signal on. The truck tried to pass in a passing lane and they turned into the truck. The car looked like a bicycle mangled under the truck.
I don't have a problem with these cars in the city but at highway speeds and going up aginst semis I would never let my wife and kids be in one. Hell we got rid of the wifes 2006 Accord for my f250 and now she is in an expy. Both feel much more safe to ride in to me.
Last September my son and I were driving home in my old '95 F-150 single cab 4x2 when some idiot ran through a stop sign and t-boned me while I was doing 70. My truck rolled two times, threw the rear axle into a ditch 40 yards away and landed on the roof. We were both buckled in and walked away without a scratch. I have since replaced it with a '99 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 and feel safer in this truck than any other vehicle that I've driven. I honestly feel that my Ford saved our lives. And just so you know how bad it was here's some pictures.
Sucks for them!! bet they buy a bigger car next time...glad everyones ok though.
my dad was rear ended in his truck by a drunk driver doing 40mph...guy never hit the brakes, he was just pulling away on the green light and he felt a thud and his truck stopped moving just reving up, though he lost a drive shaft...then the car next to him said hey there is a car under you...guy stumbled out and was ok until the cops got there.
