alright boys im gonna need your help.. this will have lots of photos in it.
look at all these goodies i got!

got rid of the crappy batteries i had, got some OEM.



first thing, where do i start removing the fan??

This is an excellent opportunity to remove the radiator, AC condensor, and charge air cooler and pressure wash all the dirt, bugs, sediment out from the reverse side.
When those are out of the way it is like standing in front of the engine while on a work stand.

well ive got a couple things taken off.. cleaning the engine bay till my buddy gets here and we go pick up a 1 7/8 box wrench. another tool for the box lol.. visa loves me right now

i cant figure out how to get the damn fan off i have a strap wrench and a 1 7/8 wrench, the strap wrench keeps sliding

Hold the strap wrench and hit the 1 7/8 with a BFH

I assume that since you are using a strap wrench, you have taken the belt off. I made the same mistake. The only way that I could get the fan off after having done that was to wrap the fan pulley with a belt and lock a chain wrench on top of that (the belt prevents the chain wrench from damaging the pulley), use a pipe wrench on the fan "nut" and hit it with a hammer. It was enough to get the fan broken loose and then it came right off.

just food for thought but i did a water pump on a ranger teh other week. the fan was on with left handed threads, i dont know about the 7.3's
