I was thinking of finding a 97 or 98 f150 and gutting the drivetran and wiring Harnesses out of it and putting it into a 92-96 anyone have any ideas on how to get the speedo and tach to work? Also I know i will have alot of work going from OHV pushrod engines to the modular style so you can just keep your flaming to yourself but I was wondering if anyone has done this with stock parts out of the newer truck. I know the modular engines are beasts as far as size goes but i am going to be using the stock motor mount locations but i will be fabricating new motor mounts. i was thinking of using a 5.4l with a supercharger or turbo. With either the 4r100 or 4r70w tranny. I am going to keep the ac system but i may have to relocate the ac compressor on the motor and fabricate a mount for that. Just thought i would share. I like dreaming up projects lol.
If you do a search there was someone that did the 4.6 with a turbo into a 95 , i would just build a 302 then SC it & put it in a short bed truck....Lew
yea i saw that thread and he is the man but he used Megasquirt EMS for his pcm i was thinking more along the lines of using the computer out of the donor vehicle. And i was thinking of putting a 5.4 in there I know it will be a tight squeeze but i think i can get it in there if i use an electric fan and all. i think that putting the sc 302 would probably be more cost effective and easier to do but the modular engines are slightly more fuel efficent which is what i am looking for. i mean the 4.6 triton stock gets 21 mpg highway. I will never get that out of a 302 or 351 i will get close but not that

yeah i like the looks of them and love the motor but the old pushrod motors are not known for their fuel efficency.
The pushrod motors would get the similar mileage as the mod motors, given they were in the same platform. If you do get a mod motor though, look for one with P.I head (99+ for the 5.4's) or better yet, a 3 valve... Or a 4 valve out of a Navi.
yea i was thinking about getting one of the 4 valves out of a navi and using it. Although i may have a lead on a fully rebuilt 351 for free it has been sitting for years but with a little checking and oiling i think it will be a nice motor. But that wont be for the project i am talking about that project will use a mod motor i may even use megasquirt and a tranny controller idk yet still planning it all and finding the best places to get a donor vehicle
