So this past week i have been working on my 93 F-250 that has the full floating 10.25" rear axle. I have to replace the hub seal
First of all the haynes manual is now in the trash as it's way too generalised....
I make 3 attempts to get the right spindle socket and finally get it off last night but it leaves the inner bearing and seal on the stub axle and the bearing is rock solid, i simply cannot get the damn thing to move.
The truck is getting very tired and i really am trying not to spend too much $$$ on it and only fix what is really needed. Now it seems i will probably be up for a new wheel bearing set (i'm sure when i get a suitable puller on it i will damage the bearing getting it off)
My service manual indicates you need a gear/pulley puller to remove that hub off the spindle. I have never personally worked on 10.25" but it sounds much more difficult than the Dana 60s and 70s I have worked on.
You are right it does say to use a puller, i have just been to Harborfreight to get one, i'm taking bets on whether i get the bearing off in 1 piece so that it can be used again, i have 10-1 on bearing survival..
