the might be able to help here but I dont know if there is much difference between the express box that went with your year truck versus the 55 express box. I only post this as I have a 8' stepside off a 55 f250. I am going to cut it up this summer and make it fit what I have in mind but I would rather it find a home with someone that actually wanted a 8' bed for a project. Not sure if the beds between the two styles are even close to being the same... if they are the same or close, keep me in mind, I am close - Des Moines IA
the angle on the top rails and the fender bolt hole patterns are the biggest diff i can think of jason . otherwise they will fit !!!!! a purist wouldnt , but i would if the price is right !!!! hint , hint jeff and nichole ............... so you made contact with the guy in c----- huh stu ?? yep figured that truck would make a good parts truck . as if i really need too i got a line on yet another couple of old trucks from peep's i need to wander out and take a look at ....... i might get in trouble if i personally drag any more trucks or cars home ..... LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin - I made contact with the guy's son who took my name and number. The truck is junk. There isn't a straight piece of metal on it, and rust holes are everywhere. But it does have, besides the bed, a factory spare tire hanger, jack, base level stainless trim, and other bits worth having.
The only way I'd spend money on it would be if, by extreme good luck, it has a clean title. Unfortunately, I didn't get an answer from the son on that. Like you said, though, the guy's place is a picker's dream. Stu
yep i wanna wander around there myself . i'm just really super curious if that particular model of ponycar really is hiding on the premises !!! they were low production so even without the driveline ........................................... jason what do you want for that bed ?? may know someone looking for a good one up the road in athens .................
I asked the son whether he minded if I wandered around. No deal on my own. He escorted me out to the F-3. There's a nice '56 Fairlane four door in the back, and several 60s era trucks. I didn't see what he had inside the barns. Stu
I'd like to have a short bed in about equal condition. No money needs to trade hands. If it has to I would have to see what used short beds are going for and set a price accordingly. My neighbor has a trailer the bed would fit on so I could even bring it over to where ever it needs to go.
I'm looking for an 8' bed for my 1953 F-250 Marmon Herrington project. I've got a 1955 Highway Utility Bell Telephone Short Bed that I'd be willing to trade or sell. Tough to find '53 parts up here in northern MN.
Dave
no bed to trade . this fella has a 55 coe he turned into a more door , sitting on a late model international short school bus frame replete with the turbo v8 diesel and auto trans . i'll have to see if he , my son inlaw tim or i can get some pics of it .
it looks like your truck originally had an express bed. You have the long running boards that pickups with boxes had. The flatbeds/stakebeds had short running boards just the length of the door...

The Express boxes for the '48-52 are very different than the later models. Along with the differences you noted they also had the raised side panels for all 5 years. The F-1s dropped the raised panels in mid '50.
