Mercon SP
Talked to a guy at Fisher Auto parts. "He Said" their new multi-vehicle
tranny fluid is compatible to our torqshift Mercon SP trannys.
Sure enough on the side of the bottle it included the SP. As well
as every other tranny fluid under the sun.
I didn't buy it. But thought I would ask on here if anyone knows
if it would work? Its labeled by Federated.

Motorcraft has discontinued Mercon SP, and the approved replacement is Mercon LV. There have been a few threads on it if you search.
Having said that, there is so much confusion in the industry right now that I would not buy anything but genuine Motorcraft Mercon LV for use in my Torqshift.
Just my opinion, but we are looking for guinea pigs.

Our dealer had the SP, so I bought it instead of the replacement.
He didn't even mention there was a replacement.
Figure thats whats in it now so will stick with it til its gone. Since I'm
just draining the pan and changing the external filter it would be best
staying with the same if I can.
Can you still top off the SP with the new LV fluid?
What makes the SP/LV so special?

LOL, I don't know about Motorcraft LV, but I had the Mobil-1 interchange on my shirt last weekend. My wife had no idea what the smell was, but she definitely knew it was coming from me and let me know about it.
