I'm tearing into my '91 302 and doing some gaskets and maintenance stuff. The throttle plates on the TB are caked with black crud. There's also the good old sticker that says not to use intake cleaner due to the special coating blah blah. Are you guys using regular intake cleaner on them or what? I asked all the guys at work, there's mixed opinions.

 

I used throttle body cleaner on mine and installed an oil catch can in the PCV system to catch the oil/water vapor that likes to coat everything inside the throttle body when I last cleaned the inside of the TB.

 

i remove the throttle body, and use throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush t scrub them clean

 

I found it easier to remove the butterfly valves to clean everything. OOOO steel wool makes the valves look like jewelry. Sandy
