Throttle cleaning.

I bought some throttle cleaner and a brush and just as I was about to start spraying and scrubbing I see a sticker on the front of the throttle that warns not to use any type of cleaner in the throttle because it could harm the special coating inside the throttle. By the way, I have a 96 F-150 w/300. What should I do?

Someone here has already warned about the special coating deal, but you,i believe are the first one to say there was a decal on the throttle body for that purpose.Check back on your can of cleaner to read if it specifically says it will not harm any special finishes. If not, source another brand,or use the old faithful, WD-40.All though WD-40 is not aggressive, it will dissolve carbon and sludge, especially if you use a brush in the process. I doubt that WD-40 would harm any type of coating. You got to wonder, if the coating was so delicate, what the hell is it doing in a throttle body ?

I always understood that coating was to keep carbon from building up ? I doubt it actually does ?
