I have a 99 ford F150 4x4 lariet with the 4.6 L engine
Heater core is leaking and i just cant afford the $700.00+ to have it done.
I really need to fix this as it is getting worst. I have had it replace once several yrs ago and know that the dash must come out along with lots of trim work etc. I guess what I really need help with is dash removal...
Can Anyone provide detail instructions on how to do this safely and correctly.
I also have another problem with the heating/AC system...
It doesnt always cool when ask or heat when ask.... it will do the opposite..... Could this be the door? or maybe something else?
fFirst drain coolant from the cooling system, next, remove the heater coolant hoses, and then remove all the heater box mounting bolts (some are inside and some are in the engine compartment.) Remove the heater box (housing). You may have to loosen the dash to remove the heater box. Then disassemble the box to install the new heater core. Reverse the steps to install.

.... I appreciate your efford to help.... but all u really provided was common sense steps...
He has given you the basics,if you really want to tackle this, you will need to get a FSM(Factory Service Manual) to do it.A Chiltons,or Haynes manual might get it done, but in order to pull all the dash components properly, youll need to have the book specifically for your truck.
N5926g....Yes I agree with ya ! some people just like to be heard whether they help or not...
Haynes is useless for almost any repair and definitely this one.....
I'm gonna have to do this one way or the other....the leak is getting worst..... book calls for 7 hours... I figuring 10hrs or more if i do it ... LOL
