I want to change the right front upper door hinge on a '92 Explorer. I have the part. My question has to do with the rivet. After it is cut out, is there enough clearance to insert the oblong nut on the replacement part? If anyone knows how to do this, please give me the step by step details after the rivet is removed.
Thanks for any help.
A new Hinge assembly, part Number F58Z1622800A 22.10
As for rebuilding the hinge, I am unsure if you are able to w/o alot of work. Replace time on my computer at work is showing roughly a Hour, but that's removing the door assembly. If you dont have power anything.. It isnt that involved, if you do...Nightmare. =)
Thanks for the reply.
I have the hinge. My question is about the one rivet that holds the hinge to the frame. I can chisel it off but not sure what to do next. After removing the glove box, there is a hole in the frame behind the rivet. There is insulation in front of where the rivet would be. I don't know if there is metal work in between. I have not broken through the insulation. I really wanted to know how the replacement was done before I started tearing things apart.
Thanks for any help.
