Well, I broke that nifty hinge pin tool. Before I buy another one, I want to make sure of some things. The pins never even budged.
I know I can get patch panels for my doors, and I can make whatever I can't find, but the rust on my passenger door goes up into the hinge mount. Has anyone taken the hinges off of the door?
I know I can drill the rivets out and weld them back after the door is patched, but has anyone found bolts or another fastener that would work in this location?
If I decide to go with patch panels (instead of better doors), does any one have a trick for making sure the hinges go back on straight?
Or even better, does anyone know of hidden hinges that will work on this truck?
If I'm cutting the hinges off anyway, it might be a good time for an upgrade.
I installed Hagan hidden hinges in my never-ending project '46 panel. It's pretty straight forward - lots of cutting & welding involved, but the instructions and video are good.
A year or two later Rod & Custom installed 'em in a '40 cab. That might be on their website.
