4x4 problem
Hey guys ive got a 97 f150 5 spd 4x4. It has over 200k so i figure ****s gonna happend but this ones got me confused. Its got the stick shift to go into 4x4. I was driving down the road the other day and i saw my 4x4 light come on, i usualy hear 2 clicks in the glove box one after i move the shifter into 4x4 and another when the axle is actually locked in. After that i heard some metallic noise like a bad u joint then i felt a clunk. I pulled over and to my surprise the truck wasnt in 4x4 and the shifter was in the 2wd position so im not sure why i heard the other click in the glove box. I pulled the shifter into 4wd then back out.. Again the light comes on. I have no idea what the problem could be, i was reading my haynes manual and it was saying there is an eletro magnetic clutch inside the transfer case. Could this by my problem.. If anybody has an idea im all ears!
