New engine not running right

I have a 2003 F-150 with a 4.6. It recently pooped out at 115,000 and instead of paying someone to repair the head I bought a new long block and had them replace it since I plan on keeping the truck for a long time. This is a new motor with 3 year/100,000 mile warranty.

Now the truck feels like it idles rough and when you accelerate it has like a shuttering/shaking feeling until you get to about 1,500 RPMs. At first I thought it might be the torque converter but you can also put the truck in park or neutral and rev the motor and you get the shuttering/shaking feeling up to about 1,500 RPMs. It also feels slugish at higher RPMs as well.

We took it back to the mechanic and they looked it over and could not find anything wrong.

Any input?

Thanks

Brandon

Are you sure the engine was 100% for your year? Sometimes there are subtle changes to cam timing, valve configuration, and combustion chamber shape that might seem insignificant, but can cause erratic operation. If the engine is from a different year, a computer re-flash might address the issue.

The mechanics actually ordered and installed the engine.

A "computer re-flash"?

I assume you are not talking about just unhooking the battery cable and then hooking it back up?

I'd check for a bad COP first, it sounds like a classic misfire. I'd also expect whoever installed it to make it right assuming this happened right after the install.

The mechanic is being very cooperative.

I would have thought COP also but I had just replaced all of them right before this happened. I know that is still a possibility but wouldn't it be throwing a code?

How do you check each COP?

Thanks
