Anyone know where I can get 285/85r16 tires without murdering my budget? Used would be great. Have 2 dryrotted front tires and one won't even hold air anymore. Did quite a bit of searching and no one seems to make that size anymore??
Thanks 1969, never really thought of Craigslist for tires, but searched and found a place that will come to me to install and has supposedly any size of tire, waiting on an email response right now.
That size is very uncommon. Why not buy a used set of 285/75r16 or 285/70r16? There are a lot of those sizes out there. Sticking with that odd size will make your life more stressful.
lol, keep in mind I know nothing about tires, just that I like new ones! I'm never sure if a different size will mess up the speedo calibration or not fit my wheel or whatever. I saw 285/75's when I was searching the web so will probably end up with those.
285/85r16 is a 35" tall tire. The 285/75 will be just under 33". Your speedo will register higher than your actual speed if it is calibrated correctly for the 285/85's.

This would only be true if the truck came from the factory with the 285/85 tires or had the speedo calibrated for those, which I would bet, it didn't. I wouldn't worry about it.
If in fact it came with the 285/85 or someone calibrated it with those tires, tt will only be off 2mph or so at 60mph.

I believe that is what I said, if calibrated correctly for the 285/85's, and at 65MPH , actual speed would be about 61.
Hey MadFrank81,
I love that wrecker bumper. Any idea how I could get a hold of something like that, or is my only chance to find one in a boneyard? Thanks.
lol, looks like something Mad Max should be driving don't it? I think all those old wreckers had push bumpers but unless there's one in a junk yard I have no idea where to look, sorry!
