hey guys i have a question about performance parts, my bosses buddy is looking to do some mods to his 99 7.3. i know this isnt what our forum is about but im posting here cause this is where i know people and feel comfortable. plus i think its close enough, anyway, he has an auto tranny and wants to boost his power, not aggressive, but definitely reliable. he also talked about wanting to buy a kit, intake, exhaust, and programmer all in one bundle. whats available? does anyone have any feed back on banks stuff in our trucks? i know that edge is to be stayed away from but beyond that i dont know. my boss doesnt seem to think that bully dog is anything but a joke, but he only has cummins and duramax experience. any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys!
As far a chips go, Bullydog, Edge, superchips, banks etc are off the shelf tunes that are made to work on every truck. Whereas TW, Dp-tuner, and PHP make custom chips for 'your' truck. So these chips are superior, however none of these companies offer package deals so to speak. That said I wouldn't buy package kits based on the chips since they ultimately give you power or lack thereof and play a huge role in reliability.
Of course I'd also recommend getting a wicked wheel or ATS housing to address the surge he will have (unless it's an early 99), and a transgo or sonnax shift kit for the valve bodies would be a good idea too.
