I have my 5.4l V8 , whats the best deep water air intake i can get for a reasonable price?
Dude... not trying to be a smart a$$ but if your gonna cross water deeper than your stock intake hight you better be looking for a boat instead. These trucks are not submarines..
P/N ARB-SS910HFARB now offers a Safari snorkel for Ford F250 & F350 models. The largest snorkel in the range, it fits all F250 & F350 vehicles manufactured from July 2001 to 2004 that are fitted with a 7.3L Powerstroke, V8 diesel engine.
And I agree wit these other posters. If you go into water that deep, other electronics that are not intended to be submerged will get wet and probably quit working, leaving stalled in the middle of a river. Not to mention that it will cause a lot of corrosion ruining an otherwise good truck. If you plan on driving through deep water a lot, you should use a beater.
If you still want to pursue a snorkel, you may have to have it fabricated.
I emailed ARB and they stated the fenders are the same and the snorkel will fit a gas engine with a little extra work with the tubing (they are manufactured for earlier model 7.3L diesels only...but can be made to work). The are about ~$550 or so though. They are the only/best thing out there though for a snorkel. Let me know if you get one and how the install goes.
There are other reasons to raise your intake, i.e., cooler and cleaner air. In some cases, it is claimed, a snorkel has increased fuel mileage and power.

It will just look as ridiculous as the FJs out there with them.
Yeah, ridiculous like little or no lift with larger tires, skinnier tires than wider...wait, wait, wait, ridiculous like better performance. Peformance isn't about looks. I'm not currently in the market for a snorkel, but if I were the last thing I would care about is how it looks.
As a guy that's both hydrolocked an engine and crossed numerous creeks and rivers, my opinion is if a guy thinks a snorkel would be a worthwhile modification then more power to him, regardless of whether someone thinks it "looks" ridiculous.
