Factory Step Bars....Too Close to Cab?

Ive almost slipped off my bars numerous times as they seem too close to the cab?.....upon a closer look I see a portion of the Bar is actually under the Truck
Anyone else have issues with the Bars?

thanx

Yes, they are too close to the cab. My '06 was not this way. I don't know why they moved them in closer. I have slipped off of the step bar. Not sure what to do about it though.

I haven't had my truck too long, but I haven't noticed any problems with slippage because they were too close. I've seen a lot of steps/pipe tubing that allow protection from door dings because they block the doors before the door hits the truck. I checked that out on my '10 XLT but they seem too close to allow that door ding protection. I think the truck is too high anyway.

i'm still waiting for my truck to come in from the factory, so I haven't actually bought any step rails yet (i just decided not to order them on my truck). right now i'm leaning towards the westin e-series....westin is a good name (from what i've read) and the price is right:

Westin E-series Black Nerf Bars

but if anyone else thinks they are crap, please chime in

I had the Dee Zee FX boards on my last truck and they were very good and looked great too....
I test drove a Platinum with the power boards and they were perfect....deployed low and had wide steps.....
best price i can find for them is about $1150.00....ouch

yeah i've drooled over them too but i already drained my pocketbook just on buying this truck, so it's back to cheap mode for me!

did you have the dee zee nerf bars? what diameter? did they ever flex if you had a lot of weight on them?

I agree too close. I just took them off. Even with the levelling kit I don't find it that hard to get in and out of. The factory steps on my 2004 F350 were perfectly spaced for getting in asnd out. One of the few things I miss about that truck
