4.9 Rebuild
I'm rebuilding my sons 1996 F-150 4.9Y engine. I pulled the head today. It has a crack above the #3 and #5 exhaust valves and the gasket was blown between #3 and #4 cylinders. I suspect someone has been into the engine before because it had a Felpro head gasket on it. Looking at the head gasket, there are several coolant passages on the head that are blocked by the gasket and some of the passages don't exist on the block. I'm wondering if it has the correct head on it. Is there a way to check the casting numbers on the head and block to see if they are compatible?
The block casting is F2TE-6015-BA. There is another number cast above that; 5L18
The head casting is E7TEDC with a 10 cast also.
