few questions getting ready to do injectors

Question few questions getting ready to do injectors

Hi guys so finally the weekend is almost here going to be starting my injector replacement Friday I will be doing an oil change, coolant flush aswell I just have a few last questions, I would like to know where the drain bolts are on the block for the coolant and would also like to know torqueing specs and sequence for valve cover, lastly do I use a gasket maker on the valve cover gaskets? like Permatex gasket maker?

NO GASKET MAKER.....NONE.... DONT DO IT.
the drain plugs are on each side of the block the right side is hidden above/behind the starter the one on the left is easly seen. they are about mid section of the block not to far past the motor mts. they take a large allan socket to remove.

Valve cover gaskets are re-usable, unless you damage it during repair. DO NOT use silicone or gasket maker, or any type of sealant for that matter. Use a 12mm back up wrench to hold the studs from turning during removal of the FICM bracket nuts and such, to prevent it from turning. Tighten the valve cover fasteners using common sense.

You need an 8mm allen socket to remove the block drain plugs.

You need an 8mm allen socket to remove the block drain plugs.

hey chan and cheezit would it hurt anything if I changed the oil in this order, drain oil then replace the injectors and assemble truck then add new engine oil and try to start truck? by the way I chose the rotella t6 5w-40 to put in the truck and I will use oem motorcraft oil filter

Doing it in that order is perfectly fine. Just remember to torque the injector hold-down bolts to 24 ft-lbs. Over tightening them will achieve the same effect as not tightening them tight enough. Since you are changing your injectors, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change your fuel pressure regulator as well, to the updated 3C3Z-9T517-AG version. Apparently, the updated version with the blue spring now regulates fuel pressure to about 65 psi which can't be a bad thing for your new injectors to ensure you never have low fuel pressure.
