99% of the time when I see a picture of a vacuum advance, there is only one vacuum line going to the canister right in front. My canister has a second fitting pointed straight up. It has been capped off. I am curious if this is supposed to go somewhere, or if maybe the canister has been replaced at some point. I do not see a number on mine anywhere, but it is a genuine motorcraft.
Going by my feeble memory, it hooks to a ported vacuum switch close to the thermostat housing. It's actually temperature controlled. There was another delay valve that looks like a small inline fuel filter like you see on a lawnmower. Different colors for diff amounts of time delay. Never found one with everything hooked up.
I was told that the temperature controlled line went to the EGR, which is not connected because my EGR wouldn't work even if it were connected. I have the temperature switch, but nothing is connected to either end of it.
I know there are supposed to be several vacuum lines running around the original air cleaner. My flexible ducting was in bad shape though so I did away with all of that stuff and just put a regular air cleaner on it. I would have have to look to make sure, but honestly I think there is only one vacuum line on my whole engine and that goes from the carb to the vacuum advance. I know all the ports on the manifold are just capped.
