When the speedometer stops working, does the odometer show a number, or does it go blank?

Its mechanical and it goes to 0 then all the way to 120 then starts working again and repeats' and the tranny goes in and out of od. I stop, turn it off and its fine again

A '94.5 truck should have a speedometer that goes to 85 MPH and a digital odometer, both electronically driven by the VSS. If you have something different, can you post a pic?

Well, you're posting in the wrong section, and the transmission control is quite different with the IDIs. But this may be a speedometer/PSOM/VSS problem, not a transmission control problem. Anyway, your pic does not show a mechanical odometer, nor does it show a 120-MPH speedometer, as you stated in post #3. So once again, when the speedometer malfunctions, does the odometer continue to display a number, or does it go blank?

Sorry again- just realized I was posting in wrong section-I say mech. as in not digital so where would a number be showing? I replaced the vss in diff. the psom seems to jump around when I turn it off is the only other thing I've noticed

There is nothing in the mileage when speedo quits - just blank

Cool 94- 7.3 idi turbo

Thx for reply - id like to hit it with a sledge - Ill start tracing it again and looking closer at that area - would that be the reason the ABS lights when no signal from VSS?

It very well could be. The 96 C&C had the ABS light on, and no/bouncing speedo when the wire needed repaired.
