i already asked a similar question in the 97-03 forum.lol i know you can get em through harbor friegh but i have heard they arent worth it.... idk though.... if you go to the forum and search 'cheap welder" or somethin like that you should see everyones replies about it, and i think i had a couple links to the sight.... maybe you can find something better than harbor frieght.... lol
"Good" and "cheap" are mutually exclusive when talking about welders. You're going to have to choose one or the other.
Thats been my experence with any tools. As far as welders go I got a "cheap" 220 stick welder a few years back. I am able to weld for a few minutes before the safety shutoff stops me from welding. My last birthday my MIL gave to me my FIL old lincoln welder, he passed away a few years back. My advice is if you are short right now follow the advice posted and look for a good used one over a cheap new one. Or a scratch and dent type. I bought a lincoln welder for 75 bucks once. I let my uncle have it since he helped me with my truck so much. As far as the cheap and new I have found very few cheap, new things worth the money.
See if there are any local rental or repair shops up for auction in your area. You could probably grab one that inexpensive. Just remember most auction items are sold as is, so attend the pre sale inspection. Good luck.
