Three times today my excursion has made a sound like I am running over rumble strips - except I am not. It happened at different times at different speeds with different engine RPM's. It goes away with application of the brakes.
I crawled underneath and can't find anything obvious there.
This might sound too simple but it happenned to me this spring.
I changed the winters on steel rims to summer rubber on the stock aluminum rims. I hadn't tightened the lug nuts enough and a few days later I heard the "rumble strip" sound on light cornering. And it was not affected by braking.
It was the lug bolts clunking around and chewing apart the holes in the rim.
I told ya it was simple...and kinda stupid as well.
