I have an 01, X , 7.3 psd
well as luck always has it, here come the 80+ degree days and all of a sudden no air!! or should I say no air is coming thru the vents?
I have nice cold air coming thru the defroster vents, but nothing at all thru the regular vents??? My guess is the blower motor has failed?
has anyone done one of these before?? How hard is it to get to and where in the dash is it located?? I checked Rock Auto, new one is in the $60 range and the resistor is only another $15, not the end of the world, but everytime I do a under dash job........... Grrrrrrr!!
I did a search and could not find any results????
If you are getting air flow through your defroster vents up in the windshield, there is nothing wrong with your blower motor. Chances are, the deflector is not moving to direct the air through the vents.
I think I had read it somewhere in the forums that there may be a leak in the vacuum hose? Will your X go into 4WD? Maybe someone can chime in.
BTW, your blower motor is inside the engine compartment on the passenger side, right below the windshield. It is that big, round black thingy behind the AC lines.
Problem solved!! Thanks jh818!!
You led me in the right direction!!
it ended up a bad vacuum pump! (swapped it out quick with a truck here at work to be sure) everything else is fine!
called around locally, they were all $165 +!!! Yikes
Rockauto had it for $69 delivered!! Outstanding!!!

You're welcome JrMagoos.
Can you tell me where the vacuum pump is located so I will know in the future where it is located if I ever need to swap mine out? Thanks.
Wow, hey Paul... small world! Neil here in CO. I'm an Excursion owner as of last year... Just spent the last 8 months building mine (see sig.). Lot's of good folks on this forum, always ready to help. Glad you got your vacuum problem sorted out.
